About the Event

Southwest Partners began when two pastors - one conservative and one liberal - discovered a shared vision for Richland Center: a place where people would work together to create the change they wanted to see.

Over the past several years, they have launched a youth apprenticeship program, helped fund and develop a community aquatic center, built biking and walking paths, supported senior/youth recreation, helped small businesses with COVID Caring Cash, and more. In 2018, they won the Wisconsin Top Rural Development Initiative Award for their work.

By using the broad-based relational model and asset-based community development as foundational tools, community members are actively engaged and empowered. These efforts have encouraged a sense of optimism, connection, and commitment in the community.

For the first time since 2019, Wisconsin Partners members will convene in Richland Center for a bus tour, training, and learning exchange.

At 10:00, Southwest Partners will lead a bus tour around Richland Center, highlighting their work around the community. There will be a few stops where we will get off the bus to walk around. Restrooms will be available along the way. We will return for lunch around 12:30. During the afternoon, each association will have a few minutes to share their own role in the region, and are encouraged to spotlight the work of local members. Southwest Partners will conduct a training in their model that has been effective in driving their successes. Our day will wrap up by 4:00pm.

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities for one-on-one relationship building with multi-sector partners from around the state.

Participants local to Richland County are welcome to join for the whole day, but may get the most out of the afternoon portion.
