Pres House: church conversion to student apartments

What: The congregation built a seven-story apartment complex and community for students on its former parking lot. The building is close to the UW-Madison campus and offers several scholarships for students who engage in community-building and volunteering. They have a sober-living community for students recovering from substance dependency, a LGBT-centered community, and incentives for prioritizing wellbeing.

Why: The beautiful, old church building was in disrepair and the congregation was struggling with membership, funding, and staffing. They also recognized the need for affordable, community-centered student housing in an increasingly expensive and isolated college town.

Who: Presbyterian Student Center Foundation Board
